AN EXPERIENCE OF SSK OKMEYDANI ONCOLOGY CENTER FOR THYROID LYMPHOMAS

Mer., İstanbul Five patients with thyroid lymphoma disease who have been referred to our clinic from 1990 to 1992 due to their rare apparence among lymphomas were studied retrospectively with regard to their clinic charactheristics and treatment approaches. The patients were all women with a mean age of 53. All cases were intermediate grade according to working formulation. Three patients were with st. I.E. disease (3/5). and two patients were with St. II E (265) disease according to Ann-Arbor Staging system. Presenting symptoms are mass and swelling in neck, diffuculty in breathing due to pressure of this mass and reduction of voice. As diagnostic procedure total thyroidectomy was done in one case (1/5), subtotal thyroidectomy was done in three cases (3/5) and biopsy was done in one case (1/5). Chomotherapy was given only to three patients (3/5), both chemotherapy and radiotherapy were given to two patients (2/5). COP. CHOP and BACOP were the regimens that were used. Radiotherapy was given with Co 60 as 40 Gy to the neck and upper mediastinum. Keywords :
